Demanding clemency for #LeonardPeltier on his 79th birthday

Háu Mitákuyepi!

Today we join the global chorus demanding clemency for #LeonardPeltier on his 79th birthday! Sept. 12, 1944. Leonard has been politically imprisoned for 47 years! The colonial oppression is sending a message to the rest of us who have no choice but to stand up against corporate fascism.

Here’s how you can help to free Leonard:

Demand clemency for Leonard from the President and Attorney General via the online action at the Official Ad Hoc Committee. (Scroll down their home page to the action.)

Listen to the full podcast. The entire authorized podcast “Leonard: Political Prisoner” is here: https://leonard.buzzsprout.com

Watch, and share new video.
This epic, never before seen, 1 minute video, is a powerful emotional call for clemency. It is available to download and repost to get the word out.

In the ‘70s my father Wallace June Little was close with Leonard. It was a friendship that was made even closer by the tragic events of June 26th, which both were fortunate enough to survive, unlike their AIM brother, Joseph Kills Right Stuntz.

I’m excited to announce that I will be officially joining the Leonard podcast as an executive producer in Season 3, which will guide listeners through Peltier’s prison escape and unsuccessful legal appeals up until present day.

Every June 26th we remember Leonard Peltier in a run for freedom. We remember Joe Kills Right Stunts. And I even remember Ron Williams and Jack Cohler. I don't think they intended to do what they were partaking in that day.

This is a long war. And Leonard Peltier is just one battle in that long war. Just like Little Big Horn. Just like Wounded Knee One. Just like Wounded Knee Two. Just like Standing Rock.

But we've got to keep up the fight. And it's hard. Leonard Peltier cannot die in prison. Leonard only wants to come home so he can make his transition in his Homeland, which is waiting to embrace him, which loves him.

I don't know what to say about Leonard. I had the honor of visiting Leonard inside Coleman US prison; I don't know how he keeps it together in there, but he's strong. And we all benefit from that kind of unconquerable dignity. All over the world, people are calling for clemency for Leonard Peltier. We can never lose faith in knowing he should be free. Leonard is paying the price of indigenous sovereignty right now; he is doing our time.

ADOPTION TRUTH

As the single largest unregulated industry in the United States, adoption is viewed as a benevolent action that results in the formation of “forever families.”
The truth is that it is a very lucrative business with a known sales pitch. With profits last estimated at over $1.44 billion dollars a year, mothers who consider adoption for their babies need to be very aware that all of this promotion clouds the facts and only though independent research can they get an accurate account of what life might be like for both them and their child after signing the adoption paperwork.

Why tribes do not recommend the DNA swab

Rebecca Tallbear entitled: “DNA, Blood, and Racializing the Tribe”, bearing out what I only inferred:

Detailed discussion of the Bering Strait theory and other scientific theories about the population of the modern-day Americas is beyond the scope of this essay. However, it should be noted that Indian people have expressed suspicion that DNA analysis is a tool that scientists will use to support theories about the origins of tribal people that contradict tribal oral histories and origin stories. Perhaps more important, the alternative origin stories of scientists are seen as intending to weaken tribal land and other legal claims (and even diminish a history of colonialism?) that are supported in U.S. federal and tribal law. As genetic evidence has already been used to resolve land conflicts in Asian and Eastern European countries, this is not an unfounded fear.
